Just a note to tell you how wonderful our stay at the Inn was this past Monday and Tuesday. The peace and tranquility was just what we needed to get away and celebrate our wedding anniversary. The staff at the spa were wonderful, we truly enjoyed our "couples massages". Thank you again for the beautiful piano music. Your singing added an extra special touch to what was already a magical stay. We will never forget this special occasion. We look forward to visiting again in Ohio or perhaps in Vermont. Thanks again.

Last weekend my Sweetness (my wife Trish if you are new to my blog) and I spent a wonderfully relaxing weekend with our dear friends, the LeBlanc’s at what I thought was going to be an “okay-out-in-the-woods-so-so” Inn as my experience in the past was mediocre at best. But hey, you go where the wife tells you. What a delightful surprise that made the time with friends and my wife memorable; full of laughter; and braggable. I experienced the unexpected when I was not expecting much more than average.
The Inn at Honey Run, now under new ownership and managed of Mr. Phillip Jenkins, has been transformed into a service model for how to take care of customers and be remarkable in the process. The rooms are incredibly comfortable; room service fast, efficient, and non-interrupting…the property is snuggled among 70 acres of heavy forests and in the heartland of the worlds largest Amish community. Did I mention romantic? That in of itself would be enough, however, what Mr. Jenkins has been able to do with his team is nothing short of REMARKABLE. If he was one of my clients he would be in the running for my PURPLE COW AWARD.
We were treated to the most remarkable “greeters”; concierges; and dinner waiters. These people knew how to make us feel sooooooooooooooo special; they made us laugh; they handled our every request…..and with a SMILE. They could not have been more “customer-centric” even if I asked. We truly did not want to leave. These people got to know, understand, and serve their customers. Their smiles and laughter were contagious. Molli; Gary; Kelly; Diane were among a cast of delightful people who made The Inn at Honey Run an example of what is fabulous about serving others. Mr. Jenkins, the people-person that he is, has instituted a HONKING program where his guests get to acknowledge and recognize REMARKABLE service. I’ve provide a link here (click here) that will remind you of the value of team and recognition. Jenkins is a master and his team were brilliant.
I know, you think…..what’s the big deal Ron. My belief we have come to accept mediocre as the norm. Well, this experience caused me to think like a coach, so here are some questions for you to ponder and perhaps print off and discuss with your team. How can you learn from The Inn at Honey Run and apply these concepts to your business………I know your dental patients want to feel special. Think of how they will refer others to you after they get to experience your caring?
1. What if a patient asked a question and the answer is always YES? Presuming the question is not illegal, immoral, or fattening, how can you and your team provide the solution?
2. What training do you and your team need to think and behave YES when a patient has a request?
3. What would you and your team need to do to choose your patients over convenience? What do you currently do when your patient/customer asks for something that is different from what you usually offer.
4. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being magnificent, how alert, awake, and ready are you and your team with a warm smile and a friendly hello for every person who enters your front door?
Mr. Jenkins and his team did these things. Here is an idea………why not hold your next team retreat or annual goal planning meeting at a location like The Inn at Honey Run; the Ritz; or you pick it where you and your team get to experience excellence in service? I am convinced this will be your “distinctive competence”.

2007 Review From TripAdvisor (Read more on TripAdvisor)
My husband and I just returned from the Inn at Honey Run yesterday 8/5/07. We celebrated our anniversary with the Inn's Romance Package which included continental breakfasts in the room, a gift basket and dinner one evening.
From the moment we arrived we knew it was going to be a tranquil weekend. The grounds are well manicured and yet very natural. The walkways through the woods, the flowers everywhere and the vast amount of trees makes it a very tranquil location.
The front desk personnel was VERY helpful and expedient with check in and then went above and beyond spending several minutes with me directing us to the best local attractions.
The room was really unique in a good way. We stayed in a Honeycomb suite. The room consisted of Bathroom w/ jetted tub, There was a dressing area with desk, would be great for a computer work area as well and an adequate closet. The room was appointed with local artisan crafts & quilts but still elegant and streamline. (Not too country, girlish) Comfy bed, nice linens, Iron & board, Nice natural bathroom shampoos, cond., lotions, etc. and there is a large stone fireplace in the sitting area adjoining the bed area. Complimentary biscotti, coffee, tea hot cocoa. The patio is made private with sandstone walls and lush landscaping. We never heard or saw our neighbors one time. We found it to be a perfect place for animal watching. Bird feeders are precisely placed for optimal bird watching. We saw birds we have never seen before. Hundreds of them. In the morning while drinking our coffee on the patio a hummingbird decided we wanted to taste the flowers on my floral nightgown. I was quite surprised and my husband laughed his butt off. Our room also overlooked the resident sheep and goat. The goat is very friendly and likes apples. The view from the room is of hilly Ohio country. Very nice. In my pictures you will see a very misty morning sunrise at about 5 am.
We had our dinner at the Inn's restaurant the first night. We were told that they were very busy and a little short handed so the Hostess herself was going to take our order. She and the food were sensational. 5 star. I suggest the three mushrooms on polenta as an appetizer. I had a steak with a lovely red wine/mushroom sauce. It was fabulous and a large portion. My husband had the pork tenderloin with fennel sauce and he loved it as well. We took our dessert "To go" as we were so full but that too was really good. A fruit tart.
At dinner the Inn Keeper introduced himself. Phil gave us the history of the Inn. He is a super guy! Friendly and very FUNNY! He is very concerned that you have the best possible experience at the Inn which makes him very diverse, even working in the kitchen for dinner that evening.
The second evening we went to the "barbeque" that they offer. The live sophisticated jazz quartet was great! It was very romantic out on the dimly light pavilion. Again the owner was there to mingle and even bought us a couple of drinks. Very hospitable. The BBQ was very diverse and tasty. More like an upscale BBQ. We never made it to dessert.
Both nights we enjoyed ourselves so much that we did not get back to the room in time to put out the door hanger with our breakfast requests, so we ate the continental breakfast in the dining room. The host told us of some of the days local area happenings and even marked out a map for us. Nice guy.
We will definitely be back soon! This fall in fact. I cannot even imaging the grounds looking better than they do but in the fall I am sure it is spectacular.
As we checked out Phil again was there to say goodbye. Phil is the main catalyst of the future success of this Inn.
