A “Simple but Lovely” wedding over the past weekend.
I thought you might like to see some photographs of a lovely outdoor wedding ceremony in our Tree Top Pavilion that happened over the weekend. The bride was very creative and artistic which is always a plus in saving money for the decorations.
When thinking about wedding decorations, plant rentals are always an option rather than buying cut flowers and centerpieces for all the tables. The second economical choice would be potted plants or hanging baskets. As you can see in the photos, this creative bride used a lot of hanging baskets, potted plants and even a potted tree that they plan to plant in their yard to remember their special day. It’s amazing what a few ribbons and bows, some candles and real flowers will do to dress an event. The nice part of all of this is that you can take the potted plants, hanging baskets, and trees home and enjoy them all summer and into the fall. Or, give away the potted plants to your friends or family who are in the wedding party as part of their wedding party gifts. What a nice daily reminder of your wedding.
Sometimes the simpler the more elegant: Remember when the table is set for dinner with all the china, silver, stemware, salt and peppers, sugars, creamers, fancy folded napkins, place cards, there isn’t a lot of room for large table decorations. Also, it is always good to have low centerpieces or Eiffel tower centerpieces so the guests can converse across the table without dodging around the centerpiece to make eye contact.
Make the decorations YOUR style: Country chic, glitz & glamour, traditional, contemporary, Victorian, it’s up to you. There are many inexpensive ways to make your wedding in the color and style that you want. With enough pre-planning, buy decorations at the end of the season for your wedding. Many good sales for a winter wedding (like my daughter’s coming up next February) were available after Christmas. Many items were 70% off the original price.
Happy ever aftering,
Jill Smith
